Public & cultural diplomacy

We help governments and other stakeholders build influence and understanding through culture, education, sport and public engagement. We develop programmes and partnerships that reach beyond formal diplomacy, creating credible relationships with institutions, communities and international audiences.

Public and cultural diplomacy provides governments and other stakeholders with channels of influence that extend beyond formal diplomatic relationships. We help clients use culture, education, sport, public events, media and people-to-people engagement to build understanding, strengthen reputation and create relationships with audiences that may be difficult to reach through traditional diplomacy.

Our work can include major cultural exhibitions, festivals, heritage initiatives, educational exchanges, university partnerships, international sporting activities and high-profile public programmes. We support engagement with European initiatives such as Erasmus+ and relevant cultural and educational networks, while also helping clients develop relationships with institutions and audiences elsewhere in the world.

We can design individual initiatives or develop longer-term public-diplomacy programmes, identifying the institutions, personalities and communities whose participation can give an activity genuine credibility and reach. This can include museums and cultural institutions, universities, sporting organisations, foundations, civil society and diaspora communities.

The most effective public diplomacy is not simply about projecting an image. It creates opportunities for genuine exchange and collaboration while reinforcing broader political, economic and diplomatic objectives. We therefore combine programme development and institutional networking with strategic communications and stakeholder engagement, helping clients build a presence that is visible, credible and capable of generating lasting relationships.
